A single-player horror game solo developed in Unity over the course of 6 weeks. Deadline centers around completing tasks on your computer while defending yourself from an unknown monster lurking in the dark room before you. It explores game mechanics such as resource management and information muddling.
Unity, C#
This was my first major project in Unity, during which I learned both C# and the Unity API. This was also my first experience designing a horror game; taking inspiration from games in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, I aimed to create a tense atmosphere that stresses and engages players even when performing simple tasks. I sourced the art assets from the Unity Asset Store, but wrote all of the code myself.
Programmed dozens of game systems in C# with efficient design choices
Developed using the Unity Engine
Created SFX, music, and ambiance
Efficiently managed time and resources to develop over a tight timeframe
I learned a lot about the Unity engine and the planning and pre-production that is crucial to an enjoyable game. The enforced timeframe of 6 weeks allowed me to get valuable practice in time management and all the joys that come with it, such as squashing last-minute bugs and working through creative blocks.
